The fields around Kazanlak, Rozovo, Kanchevo and Skobelevo turn pink and fragrant. The distilleries (Damascena, Enio Bonchev) welcome visitors and the Museum of Roses runs rituals with folk costume and music.
The town's biggest celebration since 1903: the crowning of Queen Rose on Friday (Kazanlak Day), the rose-picking and distilling ritual on Sunday morning at the Museum of Roses and Kulata, and the carnival parade along Rozova Dolina boulevard on Sunday at noon, Bulgaria's largest street carnival. Village rose-picking rituals (Ovoshtnik, Cherganovo, Rozovo) run on the weekends before, from mid-May.
